Electromagnetic Field Causes Insomnia, Depression, and Anxiety

Have you ever wondered if EMF causes insomnia depression and anxiety?

We will try to make the connections so that you can better understand your environment.

With the continuous modernization of science and technology, advances in sequencing technology led to its detrimental effects on humans. Posing as a health hazard, electromagnetic fields (EMF) are starting to cripple industrialized countries with its possible consequences. There is no absolute safety in the usage of the electromagnetic field to humankind. Let us see the vivid picture of what’s really happening.

Those people who dismiss concerns about EMFs may wish to take a closer look at the evidence of harm that has been caused by EMF exposure.

Yes, it is true that some EMFs are emitted naturally by the sun and even the earth – Geopathic stress, but we humans are being exposed to previously unheard of levels of artificial EMFs in the past year (2016). And the levels are only going to grow with the increase of wireless technology.

As the name implies – Electromagnetic fields are made up of electric and magnetic fields. Sitting perpendicular to each other they travel together in the form of an invisible wave. Man-made EMFs are put into 2 categories by the National Institute of Environmental Health Sciences. The lower frequency is classified as a non-ionizing radiation that bears a frequency lower than visible light. These are given off by computers, smart meters, microwave ovens, cell phones, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, MRIs and power lines.

The Higher frequency EMF radiation waves bear higher frequencies than visible light. They are ionizing radiation and include, Gamma rays, X-rays and UV light.

Most people dismiss the idea that high frequency radiation can cause problems. Getting sunburnt is one of the dangers of being exposed to UV lighting. There are good reasons why pregnant women are not allowed near X rays.

The effects of low frequency EMF radiation however, can be a bit subtler. The symptoms caused by the prolonged use of smart meters, cell phones, Wi-Fi etc. cannot be noticed easily at first.

But what is making the problem worse is the fact that the corporations owning the telecommunications and electronics industries are working hard to dismiss the concerns to allow them to keep making big money profits.

A meta-analysis of cell phone studies, for example, have shown that most of the studies that were not funded by these industries indicated a higher risk of brain tumors amongst phone users. Whereas the majority of the cell phone industries funded studies showed that people who used cell phones had a lower risk of brain tumors! A conflict of interest?

Because our heart and nervous system run on electricity exposure to EMF is dangerous. That is why a defibrillator can shock a heart back into life. The electromagnetic signals in our body however are weak in comparison to those created artificially. Interference by EMF to our heart, brain and mitochondria is therefore dangerous.

Low frequency EMF radiation has been assigned as a possible carcinogen (class 2B) by the International Agency for Research on Cancer.

Anxiety, depression, insomnia, dizziness, adrenal fatigue, brain fog, memory loss, and hormonal imbalances in addition to a higher risk of cancer are some of the symptoms experienced by those who are exposed to long periods of high levels of low frequency electromagnetic fields.

Neurological problems and inflammatory symptoms have been noted by many when they had smart meters installed in their homes.

It has been shown that EMFs can directly change the behavior of tissues and cells alike in a study published in the Electronic Physician, therefore harming your bone marrow, blood, DNA, reproductive system, cardiovascular system and endocrine system.

So, what can we do to reduce our exposure to man-made EMFs?

First of all, you should switch off your electronic devices when you are not using them. Try to stick to hardwired connections instead of Wi-Fi or Bluetooth if possible. This includes peripherals such as your keyboard and mouse. Turn off your Wi-Fi router at night and try not to sleep near electronic devices.

What is EMF?

Why don’t we talk about the deadly electromagnetic field? EMF, sometimes known as radiation, is derived from the electric and magnetic field.

The application of radiation is in electric production. This invisible energy emission is from transmission lines, production, and electrical wirings and lines used in society. Mobile phones, Internet Wi-Fi, microwaves, routers, computers, X-rays, medical imaging procedures, and other appliances also radiate EMF.

The controversy about potential health hazards associated with the exposure to electromagnetic fields (EMF) has been recently stimulated by the increasing use of mobile telecommunication devices. Attention has focused here on non-thermal effects of low-level high-frequency radiation, which does not lead to a heating of tissue. Scientific literature on the effects of high-frequency EMFs on sleep is reviewed. The epidemiological studies provide no evidence that sleep disturbances are a relevant complaint under exposure to such fields. Recent sleep laboratory studies have revealed a number of slight effects. Despite their heterogeneity, there seems to be some consistency regarding a slight sleep-promoting effect and an increase of the alpha power of the sleep EEG induced by high-frequency EMFs. However, for both the epidemiological and sleep laboratory studies, the database concerning sleep is up to now very limited. At the present level of knowledge, no final conclusions can be drawn from the available data concerning potential health hazards. Although there seem to be some biological effects, these do not provide evidence for any adverse health consequences. However, further research is needed for a better understanding of the interaction between EMFs and the sleep process.

There are various adverse psychological effects of prolonged exposure to electromagnetic fields. Widespread health concerns addressing the continuous subjection to the hazardous field spurt growth to symptoms such as Electroencephalogram (EEG) changes, headache, fatigue, depression, tinnitus, brain fog, malaise, fatigue, attention dysfunction, disruption of circadian rhythm, and memory thinking difficulties especially to workers more prone to being exposed occupationally to the electromagnetic field. Compared to the exposure to the low-frequency electromagnetic field, there has been a significant decline in the people’s health exposed to the high frequency.

Magnetic field exposure has exacerbated some neuropsychological disturbances, according to a few research. The increasing number of mortality caused by the neurological and psychological consequences of EMF has caught the research’s attention.

This makes the public more curious about this invisible energy’s effect. Can EMF cause insomnia?

Possible outcomes from previous research conducted show symptoms of:

  • Depression

  • Paranoia

  • Suicide

  • Insomnia

  • Interpersonal sensitivity

  • Intellectual and practical obsession

  • Hostility

  • Phobia

  • Psychosis

Insomnia

Sleep is an essential human body requirement to ensure proper cognitive function, strong immunity, and metabolic function. The apparent importance of avoiding lack of sleep encompasses the growth, development, and non-negotiable necessity of all human beings. Studies have shown a correlation between our daily activities and the quality and quantity of our sleep.

Insomnia is a sleep disorder that causes trouble falling asleep, staying asleep through the night, and sleeping throughout the day. EMF has now been considered since various effects on occupational workers exposed to it developed a severe illness.

But EMF causes insomnia?

Factors commonly causing this sleeping disorder include stress, poor sleeping habits, and mental health disorders such as:

  • Depression

  • Medical illnesses

  • Perceived pain

  • Neurological problems

  • Sleep disorders

  • EMF

Spasmodic, not continuous, exposure to hazardous energy causes a detrimental influence on the human body clock, often leading to sleep disruption. A significant change in the duration of slow-wave sleep is observed during sleep stages III and IV. Many indications have been noted that EMF from mobile telecommunication has an impact on brain activity during sleep.

A study on sleep and EMF showed that more severe effects on the human body are caused by EMF radiation at night than EMF radiation during the day. Poor quality of sleep results in irritability, depression, increased tension, and usually lower life satisfaction.

Depression

“Clinical depression” or “depressive disorder” leads to distressing symptoms that affect how one thinks, feels, and works on their daily activities. Studies suggest that a combination of environmental, genetic, biological, and psychological factors causes depression.

The symptoms of depression include:

  • Weight loss or weight gain

  • Insomnia

  • Restlessness

  • Decreased libido

  • Fatigue

  • Feeling of worthlessness

  • Concentration troubles

  • Suicidal thoughts

Depression’s effects vary greatly from one person to another. Higher levels of electromagnetic field exposure led to a higher probability of depression and its symptoms.

Anxiety

Anxiety has been a part of our daily lives already. It has lurked in our mind creating a space in it that will always resurface when stressors come in. It is a normal adaptive response of the body to a wide range of stressors. EMF triggers the natural stress response of the body.

Long-term exposure to the extremely low-frequency electromagnetic field has been observed to aggravate anxiety. Anxiety, when it worsens, is deemed to be a problem in society. It has been part of the norm, but once it interferes with our activities, it becomes a complication rather than a drive for survival.

Final Words

Due to the ceaseless development in the branch of science, humankind has been a slave of its own creation. The effects of our discoveries, visible or not to the naked eye, have debilitated the community’s health in the long run. The progress had hindered us somehow from our healthy growth.

EMF protection and anxiety should be introduced to the community to be reminded that the convenience that modern technology provides also comes with a price that will be paid by their physical and mental health. This can be done through various educational initiatives at school and community levels. If we remain complacent about its effects, time will tell the increasing number of mortality.

Did you know that exposure to electromagnetic fields (EMF) from the transmission of electricity, telecommunications, and broadcasting, as well as domestic and other industrial appliances,  are hazardous to your health? The danger that electromagnetic fields can cause humans (in terms of health) is increasing as technology evolves. As you may or may not be aware, electrical substances exist in the nervous system due to the chemical reaction that occurs during standard activities. For example, our nervous system sends signals by transmitting electrical impulses during digestion of food substances which can be affected by EMF sensitivity.

Whenever the charges in our body come into contact with outside charges in the electromagnetic field from our devices, these charges then become induced in our own functioning system, which can lead to an alteration in the way our cells perform and could potentially to lead to a number of health issues and potentially even cancer. Therefore, this article is created to inform you that many symptoms can occur if you are always exposed to electromagnetic field radiation. In this article, however, for the sake of brevity, we’ll reduce the symptoms that we'll be discussing to the seven most common health problems.
