Radio transmitting equipment shielding

 

Generally wireless communications transmitting equipments refer to mobile communication base stations, repeaters, microwave relay stations, radio and television transmission towers, WIMAX base stations and other transmitting equipments.


1.   Communication base stations shielding can be divided into two aspects

 (A) Transmitting antennas installed on the roof: Although the base station is a low-dose radiation source, the base station antennas installed on the roof generally will have some impact on households below under a long-term exposure.

Protection Methods: An attenuation set could be installed below the antennas. The protective effect of the attenuation device can achieve the 20dB-30dB.The attenuation device will not affect the coverage of base stations.

(B) Room surrounding transmitting antennas: Only 50 meters away from the communication base station, and no other building blocks (that is, the microwave radiated from base station antennas can be launched directly to your room by free space). In this case you can consider the electromagnetic radiation protection.

Protection Methods: The shielding is always implemented in the residential rooms. Some methods can to be used such as microwave radiation mitigation devices or radiation protection curtains.

2.   Shielding For radio and television and microwave relay towers and other transmission equipments 

      Radio and television transmission towers have a large transmitting power. If the room is under the direct exposure of radio and television transmission tower, the electromagnetic field intensity in the room will not be small.

Protection Methods: The shielding is always implemented in the residential rooms. Some methods can to be used such as microwave radiation mitigation devices or radiation protection curtains.

Radiation protection of high-rise building 

        For more than 10-story high-rise residential, generally the issue of electromagnetic radiation needs to be considered. The high rise residential area is always open field of vision. The negative impact is that high-rise residential is often exposed to numerous radiation sources, such as base stations and television transmitting tower. The microwave radiated from these sources can directly transmit to high-rise buildings through free-space. Free-space attenuation of electromagnetic wave propagation is small. It always results big radiation intensity in high-rise buildings.

Protection Methods: Radiation protection can be curtains, new building materials and other protective means.
